Designed in 1994 by Mark Rathert as a championship course, Waterford Valley Golf Course is set in the Wiang Chai Hills in one of Thailand’s most attractive and coolest areas, just 40 minutes' drive from the city of Chiang Rai. The golf course is mostly flat as it is built upon a plateau surrounded by lush valleys and mountains, however the hilly course will provide a rare golf experience even to veteran golfers. All 18 holes of this 7,100-yard, par 72, golf course are designed to blend in with the nature and wonderful landscape surrounded by trees, shrubs and bushes which make this layout one of the most scenic in Thailand. Three holes on each side have severe elevation changes, making correct club selection critical. The flatter holes are fairly straightforward, with wide fairways. If you are looking for a good game of tennis, Waterford also provides an outdoor tennis court and many other exciting sports like windsurfing on the wonderful lake, horse riding in the beautiful land. After golf players have a good view of the surroundings and suburbs of Chiang Rai from the open-air clubhouse, which includes a Thai restaurant serving spicy northern specialties. At Waterford there is also an onsite resort which consists of a 20 room golf lodge as well as 30 dormitory style rooms.
